I am a big fan of progressive fusion (HTM (yes, in my book they are "melodic prog-fusion with symphonic tendencies"
), KBB, Kenso, Dixie Dregs) and space fusion (Ozric Tentacles, Hidria Spacefolk).
I love some killer virtuoso guitar driven instrumental rock/metal-fusion (Joel Hoekstra, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Fourth Estate, Planet X).
Hey, I like some pure fusion as well! (Metro, Uzeb).
I also like a lot of stuff that can be linked to avant/RIO (Thinking Plague, Birdsongs Of The Mesozoic, Ahvak, 5uu's, The Science Group, Univers Zero), an "un-easy music", so to speak. ;D
A lot of great symphonic releases are out there of course, but this style is a bit "overdone", for the lack of a better term. I think the same can be applied to "neo"...
I am a sucker for a good quality progressive pop (I won't list any bands/artists here for the sake of not shocking you! ;D).
I love some pure electronic/trance stuff... (Shpongle anyone?
)
Honestly I never was a big fan of Canterbury, though I have some stuff that I like very much (National Health, Bruford).
And I am very confused with the term "art". What bands play "art"? I always thought that progressive music IS art by itself, isn't it?...
