Gary Windo was a saxophone-player who worked with a lot of other musicians, like Jack Bruce, Brian Auger, Roy Babbington, Robert Wyatt, Ray Russell, Dave MacRea, Matching Mole etc. etc. Between 1976 and 1978 he recorded a couple of tracks in Pink Floyd's new Britannia Row studio, produced by Nick Mason. These recordings were recently released for the first time as "Steam Radio Tapes", together with two re-releases of the album "Dogface" (1982) and "Deep Water" (1987). It was quite a surprise to see Ron Riddle, our beloved drummer on HTM's "Crafty Hands", playing on a couple of tracks from "Dogface", although he mentioned it on his biography. But don't expect something familair with HTM. "Dogface" was kind of a parody-recording, which mixed rock'n'roll, punkrock and furious jazz. Kind of funny, but a must have for HTM-fans. I guess the "Steam Radio Tapes" are more interesting, with nice sound-effects and a couple of psychedelic jazz-rock-pieces, with Gong-guitarist Steve Hillage amongst others. The albums were released by Gonzo Multimedia.
