The Baltimore Progressive Rock Showcases
present:
HAPPY THE MAN
TUESDAY, November 9th, 8:00pm
Cover: $15
Happy the Man will kick off their east coast tour with a show this Tuesday evening at Orion Studios in Baltimore. The band has been rehearsing here for the past week or so and sound fantastic! Since they are already here and set up we will be ready to start right at 8:00pm real time (not "Orion time") so don't be late! Happy the Man are celebrating the release of their new CD, "The Muse Awakens", copies of which will be available at the show. Their full set will run almost two hours and includes the entire new album plus lots of material from previous releases.
Other upcoming shows:
Saturday, November 13th: Brave / The Red Masque
Saturday, November 20th: Tunnels / Rare Blend
Hope to see you at the shows!
Mike

OK. A quick review.
I got to Orion at 7:30 and the place was already nicely full. I'd say that there were about 75 people there?
The band started pretty promptly at 8:00. The sound was good and very balanced and clear.
They opened up with Contemporary Insanity from the new album. I believe they did ALL of the new album, mixed with a good number of older tracks (Ibby It Is, Wind Up Doll Day, Wind Up Doll Day, Stumpy, Knee Bitten Nymphs In Limbo, Service With a Smile, Open Book Without Words)
They sounded great, well rehearsed and relaxed and comfortable with all the intricacies of their music.
I love seeing bands live and - even though I think that The Muse Awakens is a very good album - some of the tracks REALLY opened up for me live.
In short:
1) Happy The Man remain one of the VERY best symphonic rock bands ever. I mean it.
2) They are playing three more gigs (Birchmere in No. VA, The NJ Proghouse and Ram's Head in Annapolis) IF you have a chance to see them, don't blow it. You gotta go. Take it from your old pal.
