Isn't it a small world. Just before I started up my computer I was reading an interview with Tony Spada in the latest issue of iO Pages. Holding Pattern's work has indeed some similarities with Happy The Man, especially on there first eponymous album (with the much discussed cover of the TWA jetliner - which was made anonymous after a letter from TWA). I have the album as it was rereleased as part of the compilation-album Majestic, which was beautifully released in a LP-cover by Art Sublime. Here's a funny story about the mini-LP: on the cover there's a dedication: "Robert Hutchinson would like to thank L. Ron Hubbard for guidance and inspiration." Hutchinson was the drummer from HP and I guess most people will know Hubbard, not only as a SF-writer, but also as the leader of a certain movement. Well, anyway, when you pick up the Majestic-CD and look at the inner circle, you can read the following: "The Members of Holding Patern do not wish to thank L. Ron Hubbard." Seems there has changed a lot between 1981 (the year the mini-LP came out) and 1991 (when Majestic was released). I wonder how many people have noticed this.
