Our online magazine "All Things If" ( www.AllThingsIf.org ) is preparing a three-part retrospective on Stanley Whitaker, which will consist of an 1) interview with Stan, 2) conversations with the artists and producers he has worked with, and finally, 3) revelations and reviews on his current projects (vocals with Six Elements, see details at www.SixElementsMusic.com , also Oblivion Sun new release). The working title for the retrospective is "Musician's Life - Through Triumphs and Disasters".
We are trying to get any interesting stories and anecdotes about Stanley Whitaker (and HTM), as well as information about notable people/artists who spoke highly about the Happy The Man (and Stan in particular) for the 2nd part of the retrospective. The idea is to get interviews not only with the people from the “known” list (Peter Gabriel, Ken Scott, Eddie Kramer, Paul Reed Smith, David Rosenthal – assuming we are able to reach them), but also the other ones who may have a positive word or two to say on the matter. For example, one of the anecdotes mentions Geddy Lee of Rush calling HTM manager back in 1977 and complimenting the band on their music. So we are planning to contact Rush, verify that fact and, if possible, get interview with them (may be just questions answered by email).
So, please bring your stories!
On another note, we are trying to get in touch with some of the people from early HTM lineup. Does anyone know whereabouts of Dan Owen, HTM second vocalist?
