Firstly, I apologize for sort of "highjacking" the Happy the Man’s forum, but when you read this, I think you'll understand.
I'm working with Barry Richards, whom some of you may be familiar with as a DJ, TV show "personality", and concert promoter in the MD/VA area throughout the sixties. I'm helping him gather together whatever remains of his TV shows, which, if you remember, included Wing Ding, Turn-On, the Barry Richards Rock Show, and Barry Richards Rock'n'Soul Show. These shows featured some really cool live performances of bands like Alice Cooper, Humble Pie, Bob Seger System, Zephyr, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Fats Domino, Crank, etc, etc…
Here's why I'm writing-
I'm trying to find someone associated with Happy the Man, possibly a lighting guy, who had a reel-to-reel video machine in 1970. This person made black and white video recordings of a number of these shows off TV. I was told he also had a huge collection of Happy The Man tapes as well. I know that someone on this forum may either be that person or at least know whom he is.
The story I heard was this- he lived in a house on Telegraph Rd in Woodbridge. A friend who worked at the Woodbridge Waxie Maxie's was kind enough to allow two guys into the person's house some time in the early eighties to copy some of this material, which included footage of Alice Cooper, the Illusion and Crow.
I was told that this person had extremely long hair, thinning on top at the time, and was some sort of electronics genius who had government clearances and worked for some sort of government agency in a time when long hair was a definite no-no for government employees.
If anyone out there is this person or knows a way of getting in touch with him, please please please write to me at barryrichardsshows@earthlink.net or call (202) 261-6603
Again, sorry to bother all of you, and thanks for taking the time to read this.
