In the radioprogram I do with a couple of friends I heard a couple of tunes from their first one. Although I liked it, it wasn't special enough for me to buy. This happens all the time with me when listening to the new progressives...

^ It's hard to find progressive bands today that are able to fill a whole CD with great songs, some originality, descent or even great vocals and solo parts.
Moon Safari is among the better bands I've heard lately. Not because their Swedish because I normally dont like "swede-prog". ;D

Have listened twice to Lovers End. Dont catch me the way "Blomljud" do/did.. but I may change my mind. Heartland is a really good song. Very nice Moog sound and melody.

It ended as number 7 in the iO Pages top 10 over 2010 based on the top 10's of all writers. This is the whole list:
1. Anathema: We're Here Because We're Here 2. Anima Mundi: The Way 3. Unitopia: Artificial 4. Spock's Beard: X 5. Mindgames: MMX 6. Yogi Lang: No Decoder 7. Moon Safari: Lover's End 8. Mystery: One Among The Living 9. Seventh Wonder: The Great Escape 10. Glass Hammer: If
Apart from Anathema I have non of the albums in this top 10. I bought Anathema especially because its 5.1 surround mix-version, although I haven't listened to it enough to put it in my top 10 which looked like this:
1. Stefano Panunzi: A Rose 2. Ciccada: A Child In The Mirror 3. William Brittelle: Television Landscape 4. Ben Folds & Nick Hornsby: Lonely Avenue 5. Barry Cleveland: Hologramatron 6. Steve Lukather: All’s Well That Ends Well 7. Crack The Sky: Machine 8. Shearwater: The Golden Archipelago 9. BangTower: Casting Shadows 10. Fjieri: Endless
I did listen to mostly to old prog last year. Mostly Caravan's discography and Genle Giant etc.
If I compare Glass Hammer - If and Moon Safari - Lovers End, which I heard, I do prefer the later.
If is very much YES, from what I heard.
Ah, Caravan is such a fine band. I like their early seventies stuff like For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night, The Land Of Grey And Pink and Live With The New Symphonia. Gentle Giant is great too. Should listen to that stuff more often.

Yeah, If is really very much YES and some ELP too. What lacks is the drumming style, composing (song structure), and the somewhat silly lyrics.
Plus goes to great Moog sounds/solos and the bands overall symphonic prog sound.
Caravan is great, the favourite of the moment is Blind Dog At St.Dunstans (1976). At this moment they had their style and just continued > to do it even better.
The Gentle Giant fave album Interview is also released in the year 1976. Same as above reason to be a top album is - continuing their style to be even better. Later on (albums after this one) the bands dynamics and funny/cleaver composing faded dramatically.

After many more listening hours of Lovers End it has turned out to be my favourite Moon Safari album. I believe it's better than the earlier albums because it has no weak song that I wanna skip and the tune Heartland really kicks prog a**.

10. Glass Hammer: If
- Have been given this album a great chance of growing with plenty of listenings, and I must say that I do really like it. One of the better releases of all modern prog bands. YES music indeed, but better than YES since Drama and that album is over 30 years old. I say well done Glass Hammer!

Funny thing I just discovered: Glass Hammer's new vocalist, Jon Davison, is also called Juano. With that name he's been the great bass-player from Sky Cries Mary for years now. That's a band I love a lot!

Saw Moon Safari last Saturday. Great vocal-stuff and of course the keyboards are well too. Too bad they played at the end of a festival (ProgFarm). My legs were quite tired, so the long songs didn't catch me the way the should. Heartland was the stand out track though. Maybe one day I'll buy the album just to have this song! Another Swedisch band at the festival was Introitus, with four members from one family. Nice, but not great.
