... spiritually.... ...fractals grow...from a single seed into complexity...
"Spiritual". When I was listening to the album this afternoon and following the lyrics with the booklet in hand, I was searching for this word, but couldn't find it in my mind. Words that did come to mind were "mystical", "impressionistic" and "parable".
I must admit that I never heard of the word "fractal" until I came to know the book "The Colours Of Infinity : The Beauty And Power Of Fractals" from Ian Stewart a.o. and introduced by Arthur C Clarke. The reason this book got my attention was the news that it included a DVD which contains the documentary with the same title which has a soundtrack from David Gilmour. The film is a wonderful journey into the world of fractals, although I hardly understand the mathematical aspects of it. So, this part of the lyrics of PGA (the track) touched me right inside my memory. The growth of a fractal are put into images beautifully. It's just like you're watching an art-movie, full of surrealistic paintings and hallucinating atmospheres.
